The soilnids can stick and can be freed off by tapping the side of the solinoid with a hammer or long socket extension bar etc.The long term solition os to strip clean and rebuild the solinoid provided sticking is the probem.
They're not hard to remove, get it on the bench and see what happens if you connect it directly to a battery.If you replace it I'd recommend getting a decent one rather than a cheap one.
Is this wire wot was corroded, 'just a wire' or a damn thick thing that you can't hardly bend, like an earth cable should be? Or a flat braid (in a plastic sheath)? What colour is it?If it was truly a thick earth cable, running a flimsy thin wire to battery neg will not be good enough to make it work.cheers, Ross K
Security measure?Do they try & nick these old things as well?Somebody told me the other day that Land Rovers are the most nicked vehicles in the UK............I thought he was talking crap!
