Where do the sunroof drain pipes come out ?
« on: June 01, 2007, 14:02:29 »
My sunroof leak saga continues. I spoke to a Landrover dealer today and got a qoute for repair. They have suggested I clean out the drainage pipes as the repair might be okay and its a case of the pipes being blocked causing it to leak. They are saying clean them out and then try it as it might just save alot of hasle and money. So where do the pipes come out from. I can follow them so far and then they disappear. Landrover couldn't tell me, so anyone got any idea?.

Hi lyndon,

I've had a good snout round mine today as i'm suffering with the same water ingress problem.

From the looks of it there aren't any drain holes? :?, what apears to be happening is the glass seal shrinks with age and ends up popping out of it's channel, It also isn't helped by the seal sticking to the glass which basically helps to pull the seal out as well.

I'm also wondering if the seal on the plastic mounting that sits on the roof itself could be leaking?.

This is probably no help at all but at least your not on you own with this one

Pete.

Once you get the headlining out the way, it'll be a piece of cake.

Thats better than on the old Toyota MR2 design, where the drains terminated inside the sills without any effective form of drain from the sills :smack: (just in case any of you though it was just landrovers suffered badly from rust)

My favorite was one of my old capris. Every few week id have to tighten all the sunroof screws a 1/4 turn due to the body flexing.

I think it had more to do with the way I used to drive back them

Hi,

If you take a look in the regional meets section I believe that Evilgoat is arranging the next Hampshire meet for sometime next week,  we could take a look at it and see if there's anything we can do to help you out if you like....

If it weren't for the fact I've just broked the disco I'd be more intune with what he has in mind, but my mind is elsewhere [1]

Thanks for the help gents. I'll have a look around the wheel arches. Mine is the tilt and slide electric version. Def has drain plugs as I have spent days now trying to stop one of them leaking.
