cant comment on there shocks as i have the pro's on. the springs are britpart yellows and they were the +2".....one only lasted me 12months when the rear drivers gave way. dont overload the rear  and only started towing a caravan 6 times or so   . i then changed them for the britpart 200 weight and the ride is a bit better and theres less bounce when laning.

there was a weak joint on the procomps but i know when people had them fail they were changed without any problems even after 12 months.

it suits my needs this arrangement but i dont go laning as much as i would like but they have been on for over 2 years and just the one fault.

Been there,  bear this in mind.

I was told that unless you go for +2" shocks (which the britparts are not) you don't get any more articulation, you just get the same setup, only hanging further away from the vehicle.  You can in theory keep your present shocks, will be exactly the same at the end of the day.

Problem is, I broke a shock getting it off to put the spring in, so a bit of man-maths followed "well, if I need to buy one, I have to buy two, so in that case I might as well buy four, so I might as well get +2" shocks, in which case I'll damage the truck on full twist so I'll need cones, straps etc..."

So I currently have a +2" lifted truck sat on 265s with trashed rear arches (about to be camel cut) and an inverted ARB (about to be removed) and the extended brake pipes sat in the shed!  To be honest looks wise on standard rubber I think it was best at standard height, if you want to go big rubber be prepared to go the whole hog, or just leave as Solihull intended, your choice!!

I'm kinda in for a penny, in for a pound now!

I will be going for the whole lot wheels arches everything.

well eventually anyway.....

so its worth the extra to get proper stuff.
stick with the britpart springs or go for something like bearmach(sp) or scorpian etc.....

If you are prepared to cut your arches off, which is probably the most extreme mod you can make as once they're off thats it, then I assume that you will be doing a fair few other things. My advice is One, get the best you can afford, nothing worse than spending £100 on something and 2 weeks later wishing you'd spent £200 and got something superior and Two speak to the people on here that have done the mods as they know the pitfalls, Suggs, Bulli and RRB spring to mind amongst others

Simon I was also told that the Bearmach lift springs are not as much as 2", comes in nearer 1.5" depending on how much stuff you've bolted to the truck, hence me going Britpart (yuk, hate the yellow springs!) and +2" procomps.

If you do it search my topics, I put down some of my experiences, might be of use to you, however I am no expert by a long shot!

OLD MAN EMU!!!

I have never heard anyone complain about them, and i have heard of problems on most others!!
No one else seams to be able to make a spring that is so comfy to ride, firm on the corners and flexable off road!! and they last for ever!
I even bought mine second hand and they are still better than brand new of other makes.

if your budget is tight then buy pro comp shocks instead, they seam like good value for money, and if in 6 months time you can afford old man emu shocks, you'll probably get most of your money back on ebay for your pro-comp shocks.

I'm fed up of skimping on my truck!! I've decided to just wait till i can afford what i want instead of cutting corners!!

Just my 2p's worth
Disco bobtail pick up,
