well imagine it like this, you are going to a car dealers with £30,000 in your pocket, you want to buy a nice new discovery 3 but somehow the salesman manages to sell you a 1990 g reg disco with loads of holes in it.

The g-reg stands for talk talk and the d3 stands for normal :D

I've been with talk talk for ages, with the free broadband & unlimited calls package. It works out really cheap, really fast & it's been almost completly trouble free, the only problem I have is every now & then it disconnects it's self, only very occasionally, & I just re-connect & carry on, & I don't lose anything when it happens. I would definatly recomend them.

Im on talktalk
They did take ages to get me on line, BUT my local exchange hadnt been 'unbundled'. If yours has the proces would be quicker.
The odd thing is, that despite several phone calls to them, and them reinstating both my phone and broadband package, Ive not actually had a bill from them since last september. Ive tried, told them they arent billing me, got em to re set up my account, began a new package, but they just dont want to bill me.....

I can honestly say, theyre great!
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

Working in IT I can easily say "DON'T DO IT"

I am yet to read a good article regarding Talk Talk (part of carphone warehouse or the other way round).

Had them come to the door a couple of months ago and the buffoon had trouble understanding 'NO' untill the dog apeared.  I even explained to him why I would never consider using them, all he could tell me was that i would save money.  How can he be so sure when he doesn't know what i pay to who in the first place.

Previous visit from them, explained politely to the salesman i worked in IT and he left straight way after exchanging pleasantries regarding the weather.

We've had no problems with them, apart from the longish time it took to get our broadband up and running.
Sometimes you need to get away from the crowd, the only way to do that, is to get a little mud on the tyres.

Yes, RRB and I have had trouble with them (although it was only during set-up).  This was some time in '05, when the offer first came out.  They had appaently set us up, but there's some sort of dongle they plug in at the exchange, and this had promptly gone 'pfzzt', and burnt-out.  Then had several phone calls to them (they pass you from dept to dept for 30 mins and then cut you off, after charging a small fortune for the privelige).  They said it was a BT problem and BT said it was a Talk-talk problem.  Got it sorted out after threatening legal action for being sold a service that wasn't being provided.
(Anyone who knows me, will tell you what effect my 'headmistress's voice'  has on people).
So if you have no problems being set up, then you'll be fine.  The setup was the only rubbish part, the rest is quite good.  Although we're in the styx, we only get a dribblly 1 meg or less connection speed.

Still, it's better than dial-up!

I was with them from October '06. Everything was fine until November. First the telephone line stopped working, or did it randomly. About a week later, we started to get enormous package loses, and another week later, random downtimes on the service. After month and a half of arguing with them, we bailed out, switched to NTL and ever since. They are cheap, but their service is rubbish.

that bt broadband with phone as advertised by that guy from "my family" looks alright

my wife's uncle has the broadband without phone and he gets 8mb no worries.

its crap with wireless though, 10ft and a weak signal through one wall.

personally, i would go to

www.adslguide.org and see whats what

i fancy www.ukonline.co.uk as they do uncapped for the same price as capped with other providers.

you could always get a skype phone and buy a number, my mate's done this and stopped having a phone in the house just a bt line

I use aol now, i know what people say about em, but i dont use their software, so i get 2mb for £14.99.

I know alot of people dont like aol, but the line is fine, its just their software which sucks.

If anyone has moved their line rental from BT to Talk Talk, beware!

If you have a line fault between the exchange and the master socket in your house then you will be up the creek...
My neighbours had that happen and it took over 3 weeks for Talk Talk to agree that the fault was not in the house. They kept insisting that it was a fault in their (my neighbours) internal wiring when they had said that "even the phone plugged into the master socket is dead". It was then over a week before the fault was fixed.

I had exactly the same fault, and it occurred at exactly the same time in exactly the same place. BT fixed it in 3 days and diverted all incoming calls to my mobile (FOC) for the duration of the fault, plus gave me a credit on my bill to help cover calls from my mobile while the land line was out of order.

The fault was 1 conductor from the pair had broken at a very old and corroded joint in a manhole in the street.
My ADSL still worked though!
Gas Main works are like ants... You never see them in the winter, but once the summer arrives they appear everywhere.
