Best route for replacing sill/repair rear floor??
« on: June 08, 2007, 20:56:36 »
Right have noticed the rear part of the sills are a bit rotten and now noticed that it has also stretched into the rear floor and up to the rear seat mountings....

i want rock sliders etc eventually so was wondering what is the best route on doing the sills/rock sliders?

Can it all be done together to make it easier? also is it gonna be expensive for the parts.?

Welding is ok as Brother in law loves it :)

My Disco rotted in the same place.

I replaced the floor with thicker metal, mainly cos it's easier to weld :) Also replaced the door sills with 100x40x3mm box section; just happens to be just the right dimensions and will take three times longer to rust.........also makes a good base to which to had rock sliders at a later date.

Replacing the complete sill is major work - the sill edge extends halfway across the floor to the middle of the seats. If you have a 4-door Disco the 'B' piller spot welds have to be drilled out and the pillar carefully levered away from the floor.
