Changing tyres - how long?

In readiness for tomorrow's trip to Whitworth, I've just nipped home and stuck the MTs on the Disco.

So, how long does it take you to change four tyres?  I've just managed in 35 minutes, without the luxury of air tools.

buy some cheap 2nd set of rims and it will be even quicker (and more convenient!

u are soooooooo slow,bout 13 minutes if u go hard enough with some1 helpin,or under 10 with air tools,ive got the record at college for changin a wheel as 2min 12 secs,wouldve been under 2 easily if i didnt hve 2 put an axle stand under the car   ,also would have taken the smile of my tutor when i removed the £10 note from his grip  :lol:

Depending on traffic and which garage is open, then waiting for a slot to fit me in, I'd say about half a day  :lol:

I do it using the same method Kev uses.
I shout his lad and then go and have a brew  :roll:

me and me dad can do it on in about 12, thats with a hydralic bottle jack and a large wheel brace

did it once at an off road site, and changed all 4 wheels while queueing to sign in :)
change one wheel move, forward a car length, change next wheel and so on

I used to work for Colway Competion Tyres.  One RAC we (3 of us) changed 275 in 1 hour (they were only small car tyres tho). :twisted:

Asked the ex to put the road wheels back on after a weekend mud plugging (well I'd put the knobbly ones on, so share the work!). It took about an hour. Two days later I noticed the rotation arrows for the directional treads were all wrong...

I'm sure there was a certain logic at work there.  Perhaps because it was the return jurney? or because they all point forwards when at the bottom?

i changed a tyre (new one onto rim and remove old) last night on dyfs motor in under 10 mins with hand tools.

yeh with a flying lever clobbering me foot  

it took longer to blow the tyre up didnt it! bloomin tyre wouldnt go onto the rim

looks biz on the back now, and the disco wheel one looks minging compared to the others  :twisted:

Just to fly in the face of the thread....

Usually takes me about 1/2 an hour to change a wheel.  Mostly because when the wheel is off I will always give the hub a clean up, check the pads, swivel seals, brake line, etc.  Have a good look around..  maybe have a cup of tea, clean the brake dust off the inside of the rim... that sort of thing.

No point in rushing :-)

a good swear takes a good 20 mins for me

when they said the sky is blue.. its not cos of the colour of the sky but the language being said in the vicinity of a landrover  :twisted:
