Help! Bell housing leak!
« on: June 10, 2007, 14:47:42 »
Oh Oh. Just spotted a new drip under my truck. The normal steering box one is still there but a new one has appeared.

I'm loosing red fluid from the bellhousing wade plug hole. Never happend before, just had a quick run to the skip with some rubbish - no off road malarky - all of a sudden i've got another patch on the road.

I've never had the gearbox out of a landy but have with lots of other cars. With the fluid being red I'm thinking a mainshaft oil seal (If there is one) rather than crankcase side.

Any wise words much appreciated.

Stu.

Sound the most obvious choice being red, depends on the amount of fluid coming out

Check and top up the box then run for a week or so depending on the mileage you do, then do a re-check to see how much if any you need to top up with

Srs 3 Lightweight petrol, runabout

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40
