Shock and mount query!!

Right im lifting the disco 2" soon and am also thinking of getting lowered shock mount / turrets.


whats the best way to do it?

fit the 2" lift kit and lower the shock mounts too?

or

Fit 2" springs and use standard shocks with lower mounts???

It's upto you really, when i bought my Disco it had a 2"lift with standard shocks and lowered mounts and never had any problems.The only reason i replaced them was that the shocks were bowt haddit so bought procomp ES9000.

think of it this way.
Fit 2" lift moves bottom and top shock mounts 2" further apart.
Fit lowered mounts and distance same as stock set up so same travel.
fit longer shocks and the axle can droop further but you should fit bump stops to prevent shocks topping out.
but ideally you should also fit crancked radious arms and poly bushes as these rotate the axle back to a more standard postition.
Personally..+4 shocks with lowered mounts and bump stops.

Damper mount position depends quite a lot on how long a damper (compressed length) you go for. Procomp dampers as an example come in a wide range of lengths.

The most important thing is that the axle meets the bumpstop before the damper fully compresses or you risk damaging the dampers.
