If it were blanked, wouldn't the hose be removed?

Surely there are two gaskets there, both sandwiching a steel plate......

The labels are a little fuzzy but they read

  Gasket No1
  Steel Plate
  Gasket No2

I would say looking at the pic it's just the gasket.

The bit in the middle may have a hole through it :?

Take it off and check

trust me there is one gasket in that picture

its a thick one piece gasket, with normal crush type either side & a steel disc in the centre with a hole in it

Mine looked like that and it was a blank plate, my mates looked like that and it had a hole in it, for the sake of two bolts take it off and have a look.

the easy way of checking if it is a blanking plate is look for crud in the inlet ports ie the induction hose that metal hose goes if it clean then it is a blanking plate if it is full of junk then it is not  and you need to fit a plate i have done this on my sons and it took three minits (honest!) the removal of the muck in the induction chamber took 24 hours in a degreasing tank :(biglaugh):  :(thinkhard):

There is often a plate fitted with a gasket either side as they come from the factory - but it has a hole in it - that is the earlier pattern of gasket/plate/valve arrangement.  the later gasket is thicker than standard but the metal bit is only in the centre around the hole so its not that as its too thick.

Unfortunately, it could be either, an old style arrangement with a stiffening plate, (I've actually recycled mine and used it just that - it sits above the blanking plate as my valve is removed, this gives the plate a bit more strength and will help to stop it bowing out under pressure and leaking....),  for want of a better description, or it could also be a blanking plate - the only sure way to tell is to take it off and have a gander at it...........
Son, life has a habit of kicking you in the ass and i only have vague recollections of when it wasn't kickin mine!
