steering guard

hi all new here looking for a bit of help just got a cheap steering guard off ebay for my disco and got no idea how or were to put it and i no it go's on the front but were abouts on the chassis

Depends very much on the model of guard but typically the two bolt holes holding the front bumper on and one of the holes that secures the steering arm brace (name?).

If you line up the front you should be able to figure out the rest.

sorry to sound mean, but i wouldnt fit it to be honest as they are more a hinderance than help  :roll:
just my view and alot of other people are starting to rip there guards off as they find out the same  :roll:

It does depend on what you are doing though. I have the plate type guards on both of my 110s. The road car only gets to do a bit of laning, and setting up on safaris and hillrallies. The one on the racer gets some serious abuse and has some nice dents in it now, I'm happier that it is taking the impacts rather than the steering components.

I have no interest in putting either of mine into deep mud pits and needing to be recovered backwards which is where they will cause a problem, acting as a plough.

I see no reason, for my use, to remove them, though I do plan to swap to one of Free Spirit's tubular guards on the racer, and maybe put the Matt Lee one onto the road car as it's prettier than the cheapy.

there generaly a hinderance even if on a play n break day
the only time there are any use is for comp safari's ect or high speed events, when even h/d arms wouldnt survive
a steering guard is a must for that as the down time would be horrendous, if not putting you out of the event full stop  :shock:
but for lanes ect i dont see the need really,
the track rod is far more vunerable and expecialy on a disco due to the damper being located on it

hi i got it for £10 off ebay so for that money didn't think i could go wrong and the way i look at it i would safe that sorry

Hi,

I got mine off Eblag about 12 months ago.

It has taken the odd bash over the last 12 months therefore worth

the money spent.

I also find them good for reducing water spray from below into the engine bay.



Easy enough to fit - So go on get it fitted.   :lol:
