Cannock chase?

Has anyone been on one of the bofa 4x4 days? I notice the forestry commision are also organising some kind of drive but it sounds a bit tame, even by my standards!

Are the bofa trips worth the money?  My dad lives nearby so was thinking of taking him for a day out if its worth it.  That is just as soon as I get me another land rover.   If I dont sort one out soon I might be forced to abuse swmbo's frontera!

When I went would have been 2002 I guess with Chris from MC.

It was expensive yes, they did give tutition at the start of the day when we went in to hill climbs and recovery of same. Also talked drivers through each vehicles gearboxes and settings.

Having been recently to an off road centre where people are alowed in and know diddley squat and watch a Disco go down a steep slope at mach 5 and launch it's self in to the air about 4ft... I jest not... with kids aboard and contents flying around the cockpit... it was definately worth the money.

Put your Dad on the insurance for the weekend and let him have ago.

My piccies are here.. I've since sold the car ... yes it's tame but its also challenging too. The scenary is worth the entry fee.

Good grief doesn't time fly!  :D

Whilst it can seem expensive for a day out compared to the likes of pay and play sites etc. you do get the chance to drive areas you would not normally have access to and  some of the tracks are a bit more challenging than a typical days greenlaning and if the weathers right it does make a great day out.

I've not been on one of the Bofa days although I'm sure someone here has that can give some insight into the event.

There is also Overlander Training who provide driving days on the Chase - I have been three or four times now with them, great bunch, friendly and helpful. Once you've completed the failed hill climb (to demonstrate you know what to do in an emergency) you pretty much drive in (proper) convoy fashion - help and advice is their if required.

The Forestry Commission do a few different trips -
4x4 in the forest
4x4 wildlife safari
4x4 Challenge Drive - although you have to have at least 3xnormal 4x4 sessions under your belt to get on this one.

I've been to Cannock with BOFA 4x4 a few times.

Bill and the team are very helpful.

The days are all fully escorted and supported. This is not a pay and play experience.

You will spend the day learning and socialising, it's great fun.

Go for it (and say "Hi" to bill from Emily and I"!
