Anyone interested in....
« on: July 29, 2007, 19:12:53 »
I was wondering if anyone in the Northants area would be interested in a regular maintenance day. This came to mind as i am usually in need of help lol, and i see that some other areas of the Mud Club fraternity do it. It would be a good chance for us to umm and arrr over each others problems, and a lot of "you don't want to do it like that" will no doubt be come common  :D  .

Just a thought, and no doubt it may have been mentioned before. if enough are interested i will start looking around for somewhere suitable for it?

That would depend on how big a trailer he could get his hands on

I am trying to find somewhere we could do this, unless someone has a nice big drive and garage  :?

I work at Northampton College, we have a nice Motor Engineering section here, but as it is the middle of the summer holidays its a bit hard to find someone at the moment that i can approach about the possibility of using it.

Out of the wet and with power would be nice, a fully kitted garage even better. I bet a lecture on health and safety will be the first reply i get however.

Would a Beds boy be able to attend?. Also on a site note, have a try at Gary from Nene Valley Off Road he has a rather nice sized car park next to his premises, he might be persuaded to let you have it for a sunday? Its in a nice central location.

Maintenance days save us loads of cash and are good social events. You get to have Chris 9119's gearbox dropped on your hand, legs, head, toes etc etc     On a serious note everybody has different skills i.e. welding, electrics, mechanical & even just making tea. By sharing these skills most jobs are within the groups joint abilities. We've even had a barbeque at some of the maintenance days. You will need a covered area with an electrical supply if possible, good luck & let us know how you get on.     You could pay a visit to your local school and offer them a few quid for the use of a covered area on a Sat/Sun.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum and jolly bad eggs are we

I dont see that there will be a problem where you are from or what vehicle you have, so long as nobody minds if i break anything   (not on my vehicle anyway).

I have made some enquiries at the college, and i haven't been told to "go away" yet, so i will keep you informed. If anyone has any ideas where we could do this, then the more the better.

Just a quick update, to let you all know i haven't forgotten about this, as i mentioned earlier, most of the staff are on holiday, and it wasn't the best time to start thinking about this  :?

I have spoken today with the chap in charge of the workshop, and subject to a few conditions, i.e. the place is left tidy (no MUD   ) etc. he has no problem to us using the facilities.

i have however, now got to check on the Colleges legal standing to us, as in, non college students, staff etc. being on site and being at risk of injury. So i will go forth and investigate further, and let you know more when i do.
