Right this seems like the logical way of going about it as it will get rid of all the rust in the car.
So what is the best way to go about it? are there any pics of progress etc?

There was an Aussie converted Discovery 'Ute' in
'Land Rover Enthusiast'
a couple of months ago.
One point that sticks in my mind was that he used a Mazda pick-up cab back to fill in the Discoverys gaping aperture behind the seats (could it have been a B1800 pick-up???)

Suppose it needs something proper behind the seats to make it look right.
i dont want a sheet just welded to it with a small opening to see out of.

If the shape is right, why not fit the back door and corners back onto the rear of the front seats, sealed up though

the one I did I had to put the rear body cross member in too, that was a laugh getting the angle right for the pillars so the door fitted properly, had to replace the door, close it and jack the cross member into the right position with jacks and blocks, took a while to set up but worked

Be warned, I am making a disco truck cab my self. it is not as easy as you might think. you can chop the back off(where the door is) then chop that in half re attach the panel with the lights on in you desired position(the easy bit) but re mating the rear of the roof with the back of the new cab is a total nightmare! i tried it and the radius' don’t match and there is a member going around the roof of a disco which retains a lot of strength and if you keep that...which is a good idea....the roof doesn’t quite look right. But if your going to do it hire/borrow a plasma cutter for the week if i had done that at the start I would have been done by now!
Check out my post....about the disco truck cab, there are new pics going up which might explain.
