:D   Paul, ive noticed your asking about a fuel tank for you Rangie, so ive asked my mate dpg, who built my bobtailed rangie ( home made fuel tank ) to pass his knowledge on if he can. So far as i know it holds about £30.00 worth and sits were the std tank used to, but because he chopped off 18" of the chassis he had a tank specially made to fit what room was left. The filler is the std rangie one and protudes up from the floor about 1!1/2 . Surouding the filler is a steel lip fixed too floor were a lid was made to cover the filler and then the lid is strapped down. A breither pipe is also fitted near filler and runs in a loop out to the rear of the rangie. Its a nice neat job as well. :D

MK,

I've got a custom made tank now that is fitted in the same place
as the standard tank was, Trouble is the space is limited and it
only hold 5 gallon.... and thats not enough for a days playing. :(

Up on Holme-Moss after work this afternoon as I could see it had snow it on during my journey home.
I'd suggested it to SWMBO when I phoned earlier this morning.
When I walked through the door Amelia, SWMBO,& her parents were waiting with coats & boots on.

I was changed & back in the Discovery within 5minutes

There wasn't a lot up there, but the summit car-park was full with families sledging on the slopes.
Damn cold up there too, the women sensibly stopped inside a ticking over (& heated!) Discovery.

Just time before dusk for a quick trip into the northern fringes of Derbyshire to make a loop of the trip, heading back through Dunford Bridge (well known to any railway buffs on here for the Woodhead Tunnel)

A simple request from me to try the ford at Penistone on the way home was studiously ignored

By the Way; the lane to the north-eastern side of Holme-Moss is a nice little trip.
The location made the cover of the current edition of 'Discourse'. Andy has an album of it; 'Greenlaning. Holmfirth, Yorkshire'

Looked quite nice up there as the Sun started to set, this is the (roughly) north view overlooking Digley Reservoir & up to Holmfirh, Huddersfield & Emley Moor (where the Yorkshire television mast is)

What a picture of a grimy Discovery with a wilful (almost) 4 year old in front of it?

Given your location, I guess that 'the Moss' is well known to you, as are the pictures in my Yorkshire Scenes 6 WebShots page

'Muky'
This is a nice one of Salters Brook Bridge, just a half-a-mile or so before the Dunford Bridge turnoff.
It's on one of the old Salt trading routes & has a (not too sure on present legal status) unsurfaced roads leading in either direction from it.

:D Hi Richard, i know this route and drove it in my Suzuki last year, and yes it has legal rights of way. A bit rocky in places but great veiws. Not very long though. I think it may have been downgraded recently to a cycle route i may be wrong, but i remember council up there a phew months ago erecting signs i think cant properly remember.... they were doing it somewhere in that area?. Great picture though.... :D

They've downgraded a load in North Notts recently too, I think it's dispicable, especially as some have been made horses only by virtue of the stupid gates they put up, not even safe to tackle them on a mountain bike!

:( Sadly this is happening at an alarming rate up and down the country, and like you say you wouldnt take a mountain bike down them let alone a horse, i think there trying to ban use of motorised vehicles through the back door on the quite. But sadly it is a long process if you try and challenge your local councils about this issue. Luckily g.l.a.s.s l.a.r.a and other organisations are hard at it fighting for our cause.

 If you think about it, the councils are shooting them selfs in the foot. O.k they downgrade lanes for Ramblers, cyclelists etc but when these user groups start complaing about the rough surfaces etc, the councils will have to fork out a lot of money to repair or even rebuild these lanes to keep the ramblers happy. Were as at the moment they dont seem to spend a great deal of time and money repairing lanes whilst motorised vehicles still use them. Some lanes i know in the Peaks have recently been repaired for all user groups but a vast majority of lanes are never touched. What im getting at is that the councils are going to have to spend a lot more money now than they have done. A bit of an own goal i think......

Arn't GLASS the only user group who voluntarily repair rights of way, for free!  They'll miss us when we're gone.

Not at all, there are quite a lot of 4x4 groups who volunteer to keep lanes open and clear, cant remember of the top of my head excatly who, but l.a.r.a and the t.r.f have lane clearing days. And yes the council will miss there and are help.
