Lad in our area had a funny overheating thing going on, ran fine most of the time but if it started to get hot it just went mad.

New head, rad, viscous unit etc later he discovered the fan blades ran the wrong way

Check the P gasket as mine kept overheating and it was only when I was replacing the water pump and as luck would have it - snapped a bolt and she was garaged did they notice that my P gasket was next to nothing.
Thought initially it was the head but a new one was put on just before I bought it.
The mechanic said that you don't even know the P gasket has gone as its hidden and by the time the water has got to the outer part of the engine it has evaporated.
I think the area to look is the engine block, under the alternator area, you should see a line which shows the water leaking. Someone will know the area to look at probably and be along in a mo so say where it is
Newer P gaskets are metal now - modded so they don't go kaput.

if the thermostat is the same is a 200 and a 300 then there is a ball bearing at the top of the thermostat that jumps like a good un when air slaps it around  :?:

bloke who fixed mine said to leave bleed screw alone and to undo the small hose that comes out of the top of the radiator to bleed it
