How do these mount? I assume spare wheel carrier or towball?  I need to be able to use the towball whilst carrying a bike........

Anyone got one spare?

Oh yeah........... 200tdi!

I mate-in that case i would go for the one mounts on the spare wheel carrier and comes through the centre of the spare wheel,i have tried the ones that strap onto the tyre and to be honest didn't trust it at all and currently use the towball version but like yourself ocassionaly do tow so now looking at doing exactly this.Hope it helps cheers Andy.

You can also get the type that attaches to your tow bracket but still allows you to use the tow ball and not put any more weight on the rear door...  I had one of those - problem was that you had to hinge the bracket down when you wanted to open the rear door - only a problem if you had more than one bike fitted.  Im pretty sure that it was a LR original part?

Think it'll have to be the 'bolt through the spare' type.  Cheers guys

Just bought one from work, paddy hopkirk 3 bike carries think its called dartmoor or exmoor or something. Didnt like the idea of strapping it to the wheel either.

this one had a frame and 6 staps. When all tighten up and loaded with bikes i can still use the tow ball and to open the rear door all i need to do is loosen the two lower straps and the whole thing moves with the door.

Very pleased as the bikes total a nats over £2k together and it was £25 new !

maxxrax do some for Disco's, they also fold down to let you get into the boot. Plus if you tow a caravan you can get an extension bit that allows that at the same time. Think the link is www.maxxraxx.co.uk or http://www.maxxraxx.co.uk/Racks/discovery.html
