Our "Carbon Footprint" Neutralised Whilst On Hols!
« on: August 19, 2007, 17:43:22 »
Just back from Cornwall, and I managed to (IMHO) completely wipe clean and neutralise our "Carbon Footprint" from burning a tank and a quarter of derv each way in the Terracan, First whole day on site and someone with a mahusive motor home that had been there three weeks decide to go home and they've sunken about an inch or so in the greenery, they decline help so we watch with amusement for about 30 mins then they ask for help..... I jump to it and haul their sorry butts out! (sorry no pics)

Then, we spend the whole day on the beach and are intreaged at the sign that says "carpark WILL be flooded at high tide" never seen that before, not on that beach in 6 years or so..... so we returned 30 mins before high tide:

Then a little later:

Don't know why she didn't see the signs:

A nice couple with an even nicer 56 plate 110 CSW complete with genuine winch moved along the beach and I helped them sort out the pulling of the Pug to dryer land..... (there were a few people shouting advice, but lukily for them they took mine, I have plenty of experiance of 110's pulling me out of various situations to "know") the dizzy bint returned to the car and simply asked if it was ok to drive it straight away.... no thanks or nothing.... we should have left it, by the time she returned the carpet would have been wet!

(I photographed all the damage on the Pug so that there would be "Before" evidence should a claim be made against the rescue squad)

With no thank you from the pug owner, I'd have been tempted to push the bloody thing back into the sea, along with it's ungrateful owner!!!

I felt the same at the 'Fleur Dy Lys' show a few weeks ago,  I was asked by the owners & rescued 3 vehicles before I'd even set foot out of the parking area.
The last ignoramus in a B*W was inches from being towed back into the 6" deep mire for his lack of gratitude.
He even had the temerity to complain that I was taking too long to unhitch the tow-strap - it was s-o-o-o tempting to drag him into it

Just leave the bar-stewards where they are, and watch the fun and take pics to show us in here, if they want a tow they'll ask.

Only tow 'em if they ask nicely, and agree to wave any potential damage to their motor during rescue, and there's no risk of damage to your own motor, and they offer to pay for your fuel and reasonable wear n tear.

Other than that, people are stupid and need to learn these lessons.

Harsh but true Wireless.

I just come home from the V festival in stafford, i left at 10.30 before the headline band Foo Fighters had finished, i got to the car park and needed to use my lo gear range just to get out, i dont know how all the other cars were expecting to leave this morning, after yet another night of rain and a couple of thousand cars ploughing throught the mud.

Thinking about i wish i'ld have stayed to watch

I was at V as well and left at about 10:30.  I rather gingerly got my BMW out of the car park with some very gentle throttle but my mate in his auto Merc just dug himself a hole and got stuck for an hour!
