« on: August 20, 2007, 17:17:05 »
I am looking at changing my exhaust on my 90 as mine is pretty shot and have seen side exhausts and straight through ones and was hoping somebody may be able to help on where to get either one of these or advice on making my own?and what are the legalitys behind them?

Its a pretty grey area

MOT regs only say that it can't be 'excessively noisy' but what that means is anyones guess. Think this is just for diesels, not sure about petrols but would like to know.

Some event regulations and some offroad sites say a maximum of 95-100db. Also state that exhaust tips can't protrude from the side of the body and should be pointing downwards.

bullfrog does some nice ones...   and the limit for MOT is if it exceeds 110db then its illeagel and it will fail.  now for this it needs the middle box to be removed along with a Cat if fitted.   i have only ever see one exhaust that exceeded this and that was mine i had made custom.    sadly i blew 0000's on boy racer cars and parts,  i got to learn the limets very quickly and kinda got to 1st times terms with the fuz.

Bullfrog 4x4 is in sailsbury on the mainland while you up there why not check out the plains and make a day of it with the new exit pipe.    then you can worry about how much **it you can now see being kicked out!!!!   side exit from bull frog on my disco was quoted at £45
