8 month old lab sat whimpering tonight, not much but thought i better take a look at him, he seems to have pulled the 'hard' nail covering off his toe claw leaving the red 'what ever it is' at the side of it    fetched my neighbour to look at it for me 'she's a very big dog lover and nows what to do' agreed, 10 mins later he's banaged and socked up and looking very sorry for him self!!!

imagine if you'd ripped your nail off!!!

Yeah - one of my old spaniels did that once - and it looked pretty sore, but she didn't seem to care, just carried on as normal!!!

But then spaniels are tough little <edit>!!

I hope your dog gets over it soon.

If you've got a labrador then this will be the first of many incidents.

Mine went missing last week, couldn't find her anywhere, finally found her, she had gone to the local pub, walked along the high wall in the back carpark and whilst trying to pinch food out of one of the big bins she had fallen in and couldn't get out.  That's not to say she didn't make the best of her time in there, she'd eaten so much she looked pregnant!

heard him yelp 2/3 times and then quite he came out with a yellow bandage with smiley faces on!!!!

mind you i didn't think it was bad £30.54 for the lot including painkillers

Max is a total puff about his paws and won't let me touch them but he's managed to break a couple of claws before now.  If you find one bleeding stick it in cornflower for a minute then give the dog a jumbone to keep him still for a while.
