agreed, looks like the work paid off, looks immaculate, not over keen on the grill tho TBH... but would happily provide your next project!

I think you'll find they are the standard Land Rover Alloy for that model, something like £100 a piece if you buy genuine parts.

So not cheap, and not considered nasty as original equipment.

Steve - thanks, well chuffed, done lots of jobs and tidying up during the rebuild, sorted out one or two silly's that were designed in

She performed faultlessly on her shakedown Sunday afternoon with Mick and Bessie  :D

Still a few things to sort out but the list is getting shorter and they're all 'nice-to-have' things now.

As for the alloys, they were on her when I bought her six years ago, probably just as well I'm not trying to pass her off as a hybrid series

back to the wheels, i have to confess that tose are IMO not the finest looking wheels produced by LR... the freestyle are oh so popular, but my favourites are the mach 5 jobbies..

although perhaps not in yellow..

I can confirm that a percentage of the local lanes is still adjoined to the aforementioned vehicle tonight, having witnessed Chris' bodywork when we had an 'evening session' at my workshop earlier...............

Looks authentic now

Whilst I admire the ability to patch up old vehicles some of the cars (in particular the red Discovery) seem to be ready for the scrap heap and be beyond economical repair. To resurrect a vehicle in this state is in my mind a total waste of time and money. These aren’t old or rare vehicles and the time and money could have been spent on a vehicle in a much better state of repair and could have given that vehicle some very special modifications. Your end result is a near standard Discovery, why when there are loads about and most are worth peanuts.

beyond economical repair

Surely that is a subjective measure?

If the work is done as a favour, there is no cost.

And how do you measure the emotional attachment any of us have for the various "beasts" we have, each of us have a factor that would come into the calculation.

Besides, one more rebuilt is one less being built to replace it, with all the resources that takes.

Commercial business doing a favour...... wouldn't be in business for long......, unless someone else was being stung...... IMO

Yes... I can do arithmetic... but that's not the point... I was describing a situation where judgement of ecenomic viability was subjective. I wasn't proposing it as a business model!
