Why do lasses become loopy when they get a wedding ring on their finger when they were previously perfectly sane?

I have been told i have to reconsider my vehicle choice to reflect a more mature approach to the environment! This is the same car i have had since 2 weeks after meeting her and was such a good idea as we could go off for days in the dales and alsorts.

Keeping the same old car going year after year with second hand recycled parts is environmentally better than a shiney new one every 18 months ain't it?

Have you got children?  If not maybe she's getting broody and wants a more 'family' type car instead of one covered in mud?

If thats the case you can always trade it in for a LWB version, though as you're aware it's quite possible to go out laning in a SWB Mav with a baby in the back.

No kids and she knows she won't be getting them off me so you are probably right about being broody.

I'm not saying it's not a family friendly car, but maybe she thinks if you get rid of the 4x4 for an estate/hatchback/nice family saloon ( ) you won't be able to go laning, thus no mud.

Personally from the childs point of view a suitably large 4x4 is perfect giving plenty of space in the back and a decent view, both making for more pleasent journies. Evan better were the early RRC with a propper flat bench seat, 99% of modern cars have either seats shaped for 2 people not 3 or have not enough space for waring kids.

At one stage my farther sold the 1970 RRC and bough a sierra instead, after a few years the sierra was sold and we went back to a RRC as the family car.

Is the car your weak spot?  The one thing you wouldn't want to change even if you won the lottery (OK so maybe you'd buy a bowler as well)?

Women are very odd.  I am allowed to say this as I am one (physically and mentally if not emotionally).

Many of them will attack what is most dear to you (ie the car) and tell you to get rid of it, only to say you can keep it if you do such-and-such.

This is a ploy many friends have used to great effect with their blokes.  RRB is quite lucky in that I only tend to throw a wobbler a couple of times a year, and then it's generally not about the car(s), as I am just as bad.

Also remember, Men just don't get hints.  The vast majority of women still haven't worked this out.  If you want something, or want a bloke to do something, you have to tell them in plain English, preferably in words of one syllable or less.  Has she been dropping hints about something.

Tell her the car's not negotiable, and ask her what she wants in return.  You will be very surprised at the answer you get.

By the way, did you tell her you did not want to be a Daddy before you got married?  Women change as they get older, the ticking gets louder as the biological clock runs out.
Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.

Mine cheered and planned a party the day I realised I didn't want kids (we'd been married for four years or so). Her clock has never been wound up so the tick is non-existant...  8)

Just try telling someone that... especially our esteemed medical men (cuz they usually are and usually think they know better... with due apologies to the Tucker man and his ilk) or other women... so much for a womans choice!

My wife just took the approach of 'if you can't beat them, join them' and bought a Freelander which is now sporting BFG's and (still!) awaiting a 2" lift (on my desk at work!).... and she even said that roof lights might be useful

I get to have a 4x4 because she knows it's the only way she can get some peace occasionally when I'm out with the lads laning or playing. But she does moan a bit if I break something and have to spend a bit of cash on it  :D  :D  :D  :D
