What did u get at the Fest?
« on: September 08, 2007, 18:29:51 »
apart from charging £11 to get in, when it was advertised at £10!!! I bought a Salisbury diff guard, a step so the missus can get in the car, some chequerplate for the toylander i'm building, and a back window grill for the defender! What did u get? My mate is selling, just on the left as you get to the cross roads, he is selling steering guards etc, he sold out nearly all his stock in the first morning!

I got bored and the sense that I'd been charged £11 to see LRM advertisers in the flesh. Oh and a nice pair of jate rings for £12. Proper big 15mm ones with a proper 10mm bolt not these puny thing ya usually see advertised. Best part of the show was a walk round the carpark.

I went yesterday and got myself a CB, a few stickers and a swivel recovery eye, never did find the one thing I was looking for, who'd have thought that in all that Auto-Jumble there was no Rear anti roll bars!! except of course the ones that were being carried around by people that had got there before me!

Saw plenty of M/C stickers in the car park though, to be expected I suppose...

Those of you complaining about the price should have obtained tickets before hand £8 as we did,if you thought you were ripped off at £11 bare in mind there was a jap car event at the same venue and it was £20 on the gate.

:D We had a good day, really enjoyed the Lurcher display, tried to get our Lurcher girl interested but she was asleep, loved the display of the chipped up Defenders and Discos.  That was what I wanted to buy, the chip and the stainless steel exhaust system, only £1,300!  But instead got one of those silly squashy pillow, a shirt for my Dad and a furry fox for the dog.  We did have the Series 3 for sale at a very reasonable price but nobody wanted to add it to their shopping list.

I must admit that I dont like to pay to get into these places - they call them shows but all they are really is a traders market.

for me they miss the point

They also put the age of the child down to 3, it was advertised for the pedestrian day pass as "child (5-15)"..

I complained about this at the gate and child then went in free,, she is only 4..

If they advertise one thing and then charge another, it is most definately wrong and you should e-mail them to complain and demand the difference refunded. It may not be much, but if enough people do it they won't do it again.

We pre-booked for the weekend and it is cheaper now than it has been for the last few years. The lack of many showers was a problem for camping though.

I think the problem with lack of trade attendance is that there are just too many shows now. It costs traders a small fortune, no... actually a large fortune, to attend and it just doesn't pay many of them to bother.

There were several traders booked in who didn't turn up for variuos reasons.

I thought the arena displays were quite good with a lot of variety. The Falcony was good as were the Dorset Axemen!

Bought wheels and tyres, arches, dampers, relocation cones, paint for the new project. Maybe a bit premature since I don't yet even have the chassis

Aye, there were a lot less traders there this year, as apparently the prices for the pitches have gone up a LOT!

We got a fresh handbrake gaiter, a right-angle torch, a stupid-hat, and some socket racks...

I did think the Landy time-trials in the main arena were pretty damn cool, that drifted performance 90 was stonkin'.

Went to the little RC shed that was there, too, and left the 'Crawler on show all day (broken), anyone see it?

SAME HERE.......Found the most of it for either tunning or blinging ya mota...roof tents, ya see one they all look the same (even tho i have one meself)...The club stands , some impressive some same ols thing all the time (camel club)...and those that were out the way must have been PEED OFF....i only went to pick some tyres up, i'd brought of a LRUK member, then was hoping to do the TWIST OFF, but they only did it once all day......Must admit tho...the OFF-ROAD course was quite good...was tempted to do the nasty axle twister by the sandpit.....but had the little lad in the car...Roll on SODBURY, for some proper gear..

Don't worry too much guys because the rate the show ground owners are selling the land off to build houses on there won't be room for any more shows of any sorts

I was most disappointed with the show. Found it very small, and most annoyingly not a thing there i wanted to buy, in fact i came home with a £3.50 army belt    That was it!
Its the first time i've been to show with a list, and then come home with 87% of my spending budget still in my pocket!
As mentioned, roll on sodbury !!

Going to order one of those flashy* lights for £100 later in the week, as i think the blue ones may lead me into trouble

*I really must stop buying flashy lights, this fetish is getting outta hand !
