Are they a good idea, i.e. Are they safe?  And if so which kind stud extender or ring type?

I think the only type I would go for are the type that bolt onto your hubs & you then bolt your wheels to the spacers
I don't suffer insaity ! I enjoy it !!!

They are not allowed to dismantle anything so if they can't see it they can't fail it.

I've got spacers and they seem fine.
So poeple agree so don't.There a good idea if you fit bigger tyres for your turning circle

when you say washers, do you mean a washer (s) on each stud, between the wheel and the hub?
cuz if you do id of thought thats a bit dodgy, not saying it wont work but not really the way to space ones wheels!
or have i totally missed the plot.

I have a freind JASONSLAPHEAD who recently lost a wheel after fitting wheel spacers. He had the fitted correctly on good condition hubs. Be wary of them, as its not the first one ive heard of doing that. :D

I would never recommend using the ones with screw on extender studs. I've seen too many broken studs using these.... and that's just on Mini's..... I'd dread to think how they would cope on a 4x4 used in anger.

When I needed spacers for my Samurai, I ended up importing alloy ones from Spidertax in the States because I couldn't find any decent ones in the UK. They were a work of art. Seemed a shame to hide them behind wheels
