The damage a heavy right foot can do!

Last saturday I stripped the damaged half shaft out of my Disco, which I snapped the week before in Exeter.

I snapped if through my own fault - Couldn't get out of a bomb hole, failed to notice I hadn't engaged difflock, gave it way to many revs, got some air under the front wheels, didn't depress the clutch, the wheels came down and BANG!

I try not to make that mistake again!

Anyway the lessons learned are:

1) Never ever get on a site all keen and fail to stick to the basics of reading the obstacle and engaing brain before gear

2) More power will only break something - Dont be to proud to ask your mate who went stright through to pull you out!

Commiserations matey... but as they say... life is a learning curve without a plateau!

Lucky you only did the one, friend of mine got his 110 air bourne, it is fitted with ARB's front and rear! Upon landing he seemed to have lost all drive. Upon investigation he had sheared all 4 half -shafts and wrecked one ARB/Diff.
