i was in the mot garage the other day when a triumph 2000 came in ,it was in lovely condition for a near 40 year old car ,but more to the point it was the smell of the interior that got me ,the combimation of damp and leather   it brought back so many childhood memories ,and made me wonder why you cant get an air freshner that smells the same

Not sure what the classic car smell would be.  Bit of damp in there, yes, and quite possibly oil.  Ours would have a definite overlay of damp hound.

About 10 years ago we bought a 1967 Morris Minor Traveller through work. It had a genuine 32000 miles on the clock. Still had crossply tyres and even had the clear plastic covers on the seats that the dealer had left in. That car had that smell you describe.

Sold it to an elderley couple in north Norfolk who still own it. So still only 2 registered owners from new  :D
