hi m8
sounds like the nylon cup has busted
it goes under the main stick only pennies from main stealer
easy enuf to swap over take off all the rubbers and make sure ur un neutral push and twist the bayonet fixing and remove whole stick some thin nose pliers shud be ok to get the ntlon cup out if its not stuck on gearstick ball

Nylon Bush has gone as Gen-X said :)

Count yourself lucky, driving into Eastnor last year I changed into second and the whole gearstick came off in my hand. Ended up with a 10mm socket in there as a bodge to get home.

Theres a bolt on the Bayonet fitting though that needs to be slackened off :)
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.
