tyres, will hey rub?
« on: October 03, 2007, 00:03:44 »
hi, i've got a disco 1, no lift or mods.  235/70/16's fit fine(m+s)

I am probably gonna get some caiman gators, which are copies of the simex extreme trekker2, same size i believe(235/70/16), Will they rub, or what would i need to do to fit them??

Thank you

235/70r16 should be fine...although some chunky remoulds can be a bit bigger than the size would indicate...

so long as you dont have tired springs i doubt you'll have a problem

Good chance these would catch on the radius arms.  My Technic Amazons did in standard 235/70R16.

you may need to adjust the steering lock 'screws'

my 235/70 bfg muds creased the rear panel a little bit. might need to take a strip out as those tires will be chunkyer. try them, i doubt they'd damage it much if you have a slow trial run first. :D

my 235/70/16 all terrains do not rub at all, but my 235/70/16 greenway machos do!! standard height, but remember remoulds and especially remould muds tend to be bigger

my 235, 70 r16 bfg at's dont rub at all but the grizzly claws of same size do. they rubbed on the radius arm so just needed the steering adjustment bolt tweeking and also they just, catch on the rear wheel arch rear side of the arch. It is only enough to take the paint off and not damage the tyre and that is on extreme articulation. Car ramp type articulation it is fine. Oh and also mine just caught on the front bumper plastic end cappy thing. Simple answer to that was another 4x4 with a tow rope with a hook on the end and drive forward to bend bumper straight again. simple and free fix. the ones I like!

It's a remould thing I'm sure!
I'm running 235/70's and the Wrangler AT's never touched but the Colway AT's do just rub where the Camel cut would be.
Cheers
