'cuts' on the Wing (200 TDis)
« on: October 03, 2007, 18:34:39 »
Noticed this on 3 discos now. I'll get a pic of mine but its curious.

I have what looks like an anglegrinder cut on my passenger wing, just above the arch. It was fillered and painted over but the filler has long gone. On its own its nothing.

But aparently Roo (datalas's disco) has one in the same spot, as does another disco I've heard off. Someone else mentioned they have the same on the rear arch. SO thats four reports of it.

Anyone else ever seen this or know what it is? All 200TDi 5 doors, 2 H regs, one K reg and a J reg.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

how big is the dent? may just be an abnormality in a press or a bit of swarf getting in there,if its only on selected cars(not all of them) and on different pannels then that may be what it is.

My old one had that too!  The previous owner said it was where his daughter had scraped it against something;  I think the bit of the wheel arch is sufficiently thin that it rubs through easily, helped by the liner rubbing on the inside trying to push outwards.

Its possible its that. When I get behind there on rust duty I'll have a look. If it is then it might be a good idea for them that dont have it yet to bung some teflon tape on.

Boss it looks like a cut, not a dent as it penetrates the wing metalwork. Imagine someone just touched a grinder to the win untill the width of the blade was through then left it, thats exactly what it looks like.

my wing on my 200 was made of filler too, i found out when changing my springs and lent on the wing and a chunk fell off! my mate just got a 200 and cut the arches and his was the same too.  Both were 1990 models dont know if there was a problem with the panel in the early days?

I've got the same cut/wear/slash on the nearside front (93 model). Looks like a wear through slit. Must be a fault with the alloy that the wing is made of, maybe a bit cheap? What am I saying, Land Rovers are cheap !!!

Looked at mine earlier and low and behold, the edge of the liner is sat in the groove :s
