90 chassis differences
« on: October 09, 2007, 18:35:52 »
Can anyone advise the differences between a TD5 90 chassis and 2.5TD or 200tdi ones?

I'm aware of the tank location, but is there anything else?

Engine mounts, but you already know that; and the body fixings on the rear crossmember.
You getting a new chassis Steve?

Fuel tank, engine mounts, Gearbox mounts are welded on, there's a few other suttle differences like the way the bulkhead riggers look etc

Thanks guys. I'll probably just get an earlier one so there's less to mod.

I'm starting from a new chassis! Then building up from there.

It's a bit of a patchwork! I've decided the only way I'm going to get what I want is to build from the ground up. The 90 will become a donor vehicle, but looks like there won't be much of it used. Bit of an expensive mistake  :( Still, you live and learn.

snap!!
Rebuilt the engine, new clutch etc.etc.etc, even put a new rear cross member on and now wish i'd just bought a new chassis.

So gone back to the Paj for now and Defender will be put to 1 side for now.

Where you thinking of getting your chassis from?

There was a galvanised TD5 chassis on eBay, hence the question. But I'll stick with plan A  :D

Saw the one you are talking about , think they are old chassis's blasted and galved, some are patched as well. didnt think it was worth the money for an unkown history.

You collecting chassis or delivered? wondered what delivery would be?

Dont think i will get mine till next year; but let me know how you get on with yours, as im very interested interested in it.

Delivery is about £100. I assume + VAT. So not really worth driving up there.

We are moving premises at work. Should be in a month or so. We'll have an area of spare space initially, so I want to time the chassis arrival for then!

I've heard nothing but praise for Richards chassis'. That's my main reason for foing with theirs.

Steve, have you done anything else about your chassis yet?

Wonder if they would do a better deal on 2 chassis?

Thinking i might buy mine this year.

Hi mate.

I have to wait until we move units at work so I have space to store it. Looks like we'll be moving during the Christmas break. So I'm aiming to have it delivered early January before we expand to fill the space!!

Like the idea of trying for a discount! Might even make it worth driving up with the trailer too.

If you need yours sooner, I'm sure I could find somewhere to keep mine but I need to sell the 110 first to raise cash. Hopefully it will sell this weekend. I'll let you know.
