I have fitted Sumo bars to the track rod and drag link, with there steering damper relocation kit (to put it in the same place as a defender). This work well.

I also have a southdown steering guard and full axle guard (which protects the track rod and steering damper in the standard disco position)

I use a Old Man Emu steering damper which i find good.

Now thats a great comment!

Why mod a steering guard when there is a bracket available to relocate the damper that fits with a sumo bar.

hmm. are you saying i could relocate the damper infront of the axle? i've been thinking about this. i dont have a steering guard yet, but thats next on the list.

also, i may aswell replace the rod closest to the axle infront. where's the best place for these, and what are they called?
cheers for all your advice y'all! :D

give derek at LRS a buzz he may have em in stock or point you in the right direction.

you could buy a kit but the SJ procomp damper comes with the mount to the bar, its the same and strenght as the LR one and costs the same!! errr in my book no contest...plus mine is tucked away behind the sterrign guard

If you use a Sumo bar to replace the drag link they have a bracket to relocate the damper to the front of the axle, ie in the same place as a defender. Thus putting it behind the steering guard, tucked up out of the way (if/when you fit one).

Its the same principle as the  SJ procomp thing but for a Discovery

Remember it is still possible to bend a strengthend track rod (bar behind the axle). So depending on usage this needs some thought.
