Without putting a downer on the above, from what I heard, it is women who peak at 40, and men peak at 17-18 years, hence the notion of 'toy boys'. Something to do with virility apparently, not that I've ever come across that myself. (think about it!)
This could explain, why my wife ,who is 'slightly more advanced in years' than I, looks considerably better than I, from the ageing point of view.
My excuse was that I had a very heavy paper round.

Going back to the original topic of '40', Happy Birthday! You can now officially use the following phrases
1) Tch! Kids of today have got it easy!
2) When I was a youngster, we never stayed in with these computor things!
3) Of course, I'll pick you up from the night club at 3.00am, thats not a problem. After all, who needs sleep?
4) You want to borrow the Disco to go to Newquay with all your mates?
5) Thats not music, turn it down!
6) Er, I think we ought to have a chat about the, er, birds and bees, er, I'm embarrassed.
7) Son, now you are 18.........you can get the first round in!

Some or all of these may apply.

As mentioned, due to the age difference between her Ladyship and myself, I have been using these phrases since the age of 30, hence I know look 'well seasoned', as you can see from the attached picture taken yesterday, after my dear daughter announced that she wanted to stop working and go back back to being a student.
I do so love fiscal servitude!

There's another number in your reply that's also co-incidental to me.
25
The number of years since I last drank alcohol

(but it's even more than that since I last drank coffee)
