Wheel offset on modulars and thickness
« on: October 15, 2007, 23:37:58 »
I have just wrecked my set modulars wheels,  so am in the market for a new set.
So dose anyone know-
The ones  i have stick out an extra inch than my LR alloys, is this true for all       /most after market modulars/8spokes?

standard disco steals are the same at the alloys, right?

The rims i have are thin with a chrome finish but my dads are wight 8 spokes and seem a lot thicker, dose any one know what paddocks rims are like?

Any comments on what people have tried would be appreciated.

And how is offset measured +/- ?

I searched for ages trying to get modulars with the right offset for what i wanted, most 8' rims are +20mm offset..... i ended up with 7's from Bronco, with a zero offset......

make sure you get the right offset for what you want, i wanted good steering lock...... but i couldn't go too mad, as i am restricted by alrc rules fro trialing.....

The offset should be marked on your wheels. Any sell should be able to tell you what offset the wheels are they are selling, but from experinace I strongly reccomend measuring or seeing with you own eyes, rather than just relying on others measurements.

Just to confuse matters there are a few that measure offset from the outter edge of the rim to be hub face, so if you come accross people reffering to wheels having an offset of 100mm they are probably confusing the standard measurement with ALRC rules.

[rant]That was another 4x4 shop I have not bothered to use again due to their customer service, but at least that was just poor service rather than incompitance mixed with plain insulting.[/rant]

Standard disco1/RRC/defender steels and alloys are all 33mm positive offset.
