Is there any difference in the wheel base of 2dr/4dr range rover would a 2dr body fit a 4 dr chassis.

Seen it the other way round  8)

The only change to chassis length as such were the LSE models which had a 108" wheelbase.

I'm not aware of any other significant chassis changes, but I'm sure there must be have been a number of little changes over the years like the addition of ARB mounts.

The biggest difference would probably be the transmission tunnel for the 5 speed box. and the 3 or more different types of gearbox crossmember, though these are interchangeable.

The chassis/body mounts are pretty much the same.  Later Deisels had different engine mounts, the ARB mounts as mentioned and concealed hinge cars had a different crossmember to mount the self-leveler to, it's round on the later cars.

The exhaust mounts are different depending on year

One thing to watch for is the fuel tank mounting, it's very different on late models with the plastic tank/high level filler.

Oh, and the EAS mountings under both front seats and above all 4 radius arms.

I just got a range rover chassis with the overfinch conversion ie 350 chevy with autobox and ferguson formula transfer case and was thinking about putting a 2dr body on it and what work was involved.

I think its a 1980 or 83 been told that any spares fo tcase would be a mare to get, also looked on net and these t cases were fitted to the jensen ff

Hi there,

there is no difference between the standard 4 door and the 2 door RR chassis.
I've mostly seen people fit a four door body to a two door chassis to modernise it.
It can obviously be done the other way round if you so wish.
The main things to account for are the differing gearboxes and gear stick positions, and the gearbox crossmember shape.
if you change either way you will need to match whichever gearbox you choose with the correct gearbox tunnel or make one up yourself,
I saw a really nice one once made of chequer-plate.

Discovery 1 bodies are also interchangeable.
