Damn you Defender, damn you!!

It's always one thing after another isn't it?

Had a flat tyre last week after an off-road day at Broxhead Common, went out on Friday to drive the 90 to get it repaired, damn starter motor was spinning but not engaging, got me hammer out, whacked it, no good.

Decided to bump start it down our hill, rolled it down the drive, a car was coming down the hill, so I had to stop, then it was stuck out in the road and wouldn't move anywhere, I had to jump in the Discovery and tow it back up the drive!! (Quick tip here, always make sure the handbrake is off, skidmarks on block paving are not easily removed!   )

Eventually bump started it, reversed up the drive, removed the starter motor only to find it was full of mud and cr@p, took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together, still no good, so after getting quotes for around £196 exchange, I managed to find one for £55 + VAT new from Paddocks!!

So the moral of the story is, bell housing wading plugs really are meant for something!! Especially when you're sat in mud and water up to the bottom of the doors for 15 minutes, oh, and being recovered sideways against a big rut will invariably push mud between the tyre bead and rim! (Thanks to Kwikfit for the free repair!! ).

It's nice to know that of all the places a Land Rover can go, anywhere could be one of them!
