disco 1 key fobs
« on: October 22, 2007, 19:02:29 »
hi all

i have a 200tdi and the key fob i am using is starting to play about.

i have a second single button key fob which does not open or close the car but when the button is pressed the light illuminates.

i have checked the frequency of the fob and the alarm box and both are 418mhz, the only difference is the amr no. on the fob is 3720 and the alarm box is 2106.

my questions are

1- can i code this fob to my alarm?

2- does the different amr number matter?

3- if this fob was coded to the car would it affect  my other one?

4- if i can't use this is it better to buy one from remotekeys?

cheers

neil

amrXXXX is the LR part number, so no problem there.

As for the rest of your questions, no idea.

Hi Neil,

If both fobs are on the single button type then they can both be coded to your Disco provided they have the same colour ciruit board inside (I seem to remember). IIRC there is a blue and a red board.
But before you go that far, have you tried replacing the battery in the original fob?

hi martin,

both fobs are the single button type and are both red circuit boards.

the one i am using i am having to hold two ends of the button down to get it to work.

if i try to code up the other fob do i have to do both together?

There are some instructions here about how to program the fobs.  I think you will have to do both of them.

Incidentally it is the frequency that is important not the colour of the circuit board (so I have been told)
