I don't want to use pop rivets to fix my chequer plate trim!

As the title really.

I don't want to use pop rivets to fix my chequer plate door trim to my Disco. I don't think that rivets on the back of the door edges looks neat.

I fancy using double sided "trim tape", the sort that fixes body mouldings, etc. Anyone got any other suggestions?

you need a proper fixing, as trim tape wont hold the weight and if anything hard brushes up againt it it will fall off, so if not poprivits then maybe pk screws or simular ?

You could use Stainless countersunk or button heads bolts.
A decent silicone like sikkaflex (291 I think) will bond it very well...don't use the cheap DIY ones.
Other than that you could try play doh!  :lol:

I'm not keen on anything which will break the surface of the door/wing.

Where would I get sikkaflex from, I've not seen it in any DIY stores.

Inside or outside of door??
If outside def sikkoflex (try car body shop supplies) but if internal do you ever need to remove it? (door locks etc.) If so sikkoflex is VERY hard to remove  :roll:

sikkaflex is the way to go it's amazing(get it from boat yards) . good intial tack but will need clamping until set. And make sure it's in the right place as you won't get it off again.

Wurth do somthing similar (and cheaper) that we use on military stuff but I can't remember the name.

when i worked in a press shop they used a glue type stuff to stick the machines some weighing 10 tonnes plus to the floor to stop them moving under load now i think this was called tico adhesive but im not sure.the stuff was so strong when they tried to move them to make way for new presses it ripped the renforced concrete up!oh and mate you got to stop posting promises like those!!! well funny, top man :lol:  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

You want Poly urethane sealant (not silicon), this is what sikaflex is, another well known brand is tiger seal. Local motor shop will probably have it, may just call it seam sealer. As long as its polyurethane sealer you won't go wrong. If you struggle to find it drop me a PM.

If you get the heavey duty double sided tape used on rubber trims etc it will hold. Talk to a proper body shop or caravan repair centre.
