Commercial Insurance on the Pickup 88 ?
« on: October 24, 2007, 15:09:01 »
I'm having problems with insurance :(

Because the S3 i have is a Pickup ( Cab Only ) and its classed as commercial ?

Cant find it listed on many of the online quotes.

Has anyone else one of these S3 Pickups with insurance ?

Me again

Hagerty Insurance insure my brake down truck based S3 on a classic policy.
tel 08700 420 220

They are very easy re old cars/modifications etc and my truck cost £100 year.

And if that sounds cheap my scary modified elise costs £245

both FULLY COMP! (by limited miles)

Although they only insure cars kept inside and you have to prove you have a normal day to day car.

I've just had a quote from Footman James, for my '72 88" and my '75 109" on the same policy, with unlimited mileage, european breakdown cover free 30 day geen card repeatable as many times as I want in a year, legal cover, fully comp, £50 excess kept on the drive, £163.20, I'm 28 and had an at fault accident last year that wrote off 2 cars.
Pretty good I thought.

Added the 101 to the quote as well and it took it up to £211.50

'71 88 truck cab, ditto to Chris, Footman James though sub £100 (29 with 9 years no claims). Of course the no claims mean diddly squat as it's a classic policy.

Well, I did not have correct cover. Pick-ups are "special" and treated as comercial vehicles I was told. Policy now being cancelled.

Best quote far based upon:

"std" 1983 SWB S3 Pick-up, agreed value, fully comp, S&D + commuting, 5,000 miles pa, £100 excess, green card, courtessy car, £75 windscreen excess AND green laning / off road included.

NO NCD, no modifications, classic policy & not used for commuting everyday

£125 from Adrian Flux  :D

Oh and there's an option for "personal accident & ROAD RAGE" cover

BTW almost forgot 42yrs & 4 days old :(

Adrian flux were the best i could get, were not worried about any modifications, only wanted a list because they will repair like for like (rather than as new).  Cost a bit more due to an SP50 (ho hum need to help supply the donuts).
