Id rather take the chance tbh. You have 3 minutes to do do something in a serious situation, you wont arrive untill after most times and you dont know how long you have left. 1 second to flip a switch rather than a minute to find triangles, walk out the required xxx yards fiddle with them, then come back to the accident. It really could make the difference as you should well know. If someone isnt breathing, or is in cardiac arrest, or has any number of serious traumas, every second really does count.

My first and foremost concern is my saftey, I cant help anyone if I'm dead because someone mowed me down, hit the car/truck because they couldnt see it. I have to do everything I can do to make myself as visible as possible.

If I come over harsh I'll explain that I've had a collegue killed when some tit ploughed into the back of his Ambulance, so as you'll understand, a dinky red warning triangle doesnt cut it as far as I'm concerned.

I fully understand the safety implications and have to say at times the law is an ass, but websites such as this need to state the situation and let people decide for themselves, not encourage illegal activity and then lead the forum operators open to possible future legal action and if I come over as sticking to the rules excessively etc its not that its just that strobes and beacons etc just help to perpetuate the general publics view that THIS is what our hobby/sport (call it what you will) is about. Couple that with illegal off roading and Chelsea tractors, is it any wonder the press give us such a hard time.

Got to agree on that point, that's one reason why I've got 4 'NAS' sized lights on the back of the 110

Happened around here not too long ago, thankfully the crew were still in the patients house.
Young lad, clear road, dry, street lamps....... 'Drunk-Mobile parked up, lights on, but not 'blues', slammed straight into it.

been reading this one with interest as ive just renewed my public liabiltiy insurance and they are insisting that all vehicles used on site have orange lights fitted so i dont run my more numpty customers over! i was going to go for some radiator mounted strobes on the front and the same mounted on the roofrack on the back but does this mean i would have to take them off when i leave site or as i have a ligitimate reason would i be alright?

Worm Can Opener.  :lol: As to lights on vehicles, IMO high level brake lights should be banned and those who use the roof lights on wagons, which I believe are illegal, should be heavily fined. Not much fun with those blinding you, as you approach the brow of a hill, until the wazack driving see's you.  :evil:

Well ,up in your neck of the woods, they haven't heard of street lighting to help the motorists yet!!

The last time I ventured up that far, the chap in the garage asked me what to do with my debit card. Did he keep it & hand it in at the bank !!!!!
(it's a bit like Norfolk in that respect)
