BBC Midlands today had a feature on anti urban 4x4s picketing a school in birmingham.

All in all it came across as pro 4x4.

Interviewed 2 of the mothers.
1st pointed out she had bought 7 kids to school and the 2nd pointed out she was a GP and was afraid that if she didnt have a 4x4 she wouldnt be able to get to a call out in bad weather.

They showed a group of antis in stupid costumes and the guy they interviewed could only say that 4x4s were "giant gas guzzlers".

Chalk one up for us me thinks
"A wise man has something to say a fool has to say something"
"Think of it as evolution in action" and yes, I do know that I can't spell thank you.

I did complain that it was an unbalanced view and asked if they could put the link (as I am sure others have) to 4x4 Prejudice for our side of the argument.

They don't do them selves any favours do they?

Think of the holdups and hassles they must cause 'pretending' to be teachers and lollipop women.

Proberally end up  annoying people long term  far more than the 4x4's

I bought my Disco to replace a Granada Scorpio.
The money I saved in fuel paid for the Disco within a couple of years.

they were doing the same thing in central London - there was a brief report on London News.

Trying to hand out fake school reports - most people just ignored them.

Isn't it illegal to impersonate an official (a lollipop people are offical, aren't they?).

It's probably illegal to cause a traffic obstruction of that nature...  I'd have reported them.

I think I was approached to do this - think it was a national thing - but couldn't some I'm glad they got their GP.
I don't live in a particularly rural or isolated area, but needed the Disco for work today to ensure I got there.
cheers! 8)

I saw it on the Midlands Today news as well and yet again they just came across as a total bunch of idiots.

Saying that they want to ban 4x4s due to the fact they use more fuel, when we know that this is not always the case and various other bits of rubbish like that!

I assume that a Chrysler Voyager would be ok to drive according to them, despite the fact that it is bigger that a lot of 4x4s and uses more fuel
