Thinking of upgrading my 2.5td to one of theese babies,  does anyone have any experience with them, good/bad? And any idea of the work involved ie engine mounts, gearbox marry up? or should i just go for a 200/300tdi :?:

If it's the one I think it is, it's basically a 300tdi but bored out, so it should be as easy to fit as a 300tdi.  LRO have run one on one of their fleet vehicles and seem to have had a few problems.  Everybody thought they were great when they first came out, but nowadays I don't hear so many positive comments.

 Save a load of dosh and put a Jappy diesel in, bulletproof Isuzu or Daihatsu can be bought for pennies and they don't have tdi head or cambelt issues.

But then I have lots of them !!!!!

Haven't the 2.8 engines been discontinued as the 300tdi has been re-commissioned by the military? I could be wrong though
Put a nice Turner Engineering 200tdi in  8)
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

stick a 200 in it out of a disco with a steve parker exhaust - much less hassle and significanlty cheaper.

then tweak the pump

the 2.8 internationals have indeed been taken out of production
and of you do have one, they apparently will wreck a r380 box

but a 4.5k, ill never consider one
theres nothing special about them really
longer stroke, slighly bigger bore, and a vvt blower
apart from that, its a 300

not worth the hassle or pounds IMO

get a 200tdi in the old girl, stick a full width intercooler up her, and there more than enough grunt then

if its gotta be derv stick a suzi 2.8td in they are ace, ive had 2 both in 90s, and they are great, but simplest solution is the old tdi route, at least you know were all the bits come from, especially if you have a fault occur.
