Driving test... Hazard Perception Test...

Now I'm planning to take my bike tests soonish and have purchased a CD-Rom to give me some guidance on all this as its been 20 years since I did my driving test.

The actual theory test seems ok and I have no problems with that, however the examples for the Hazard Perception are just daft! Is it as complex as the CD shows or in reality the DVLA version is more logical.

This is not a DVLA CD, I guess I should get one of them rather than the version I have.


Anyone done one recently, if so how did you get on???

get a dsa disc this is the actual test and it is exactly the same as the real test, obviously not the same test but same questions and answers and the peseption test it is abit daft but not to bad but u can practice this on the cd :D

if you want one i think u get them at your local test centre, personly i borrowed my mates :lol:

i passed my bike test a few weeks ago and the hazard perception is aimed at young drivers, people who have been driving for years spot the hazard to early for the computer program  to reconise and you end up getting marked down for it, just practice like crazy and you will soon get the hang of it

If you drive with your vision lifted according to the 'system' then you will find you get marked down. You spot hazzards to early for the computer and as everything is a potential hazard you also seem to spot more than they require.  As said above you get marked down. :(

my mother finally learned to drive a couple of years ago and to show support i said i'd have a stab at it. on my first try i got eighty something percent and was quite happy with that. however i then did it again and only got forty something???? never understood why- i didnt change my idea of what a hazzard was?

Done the HPT twice recently (HGV & bike) the trick is to wait for the hazard to develop, then click only two or three times for it.
You do not get marked down for clicking too early (you just don't score a tall), you can get penalised for clicking too often though.
You only get marked 'down' for not clicking as soon enough as the hazard develops .

Treat it as a computer game, not virtual reality, play by the rules of the game and you'll be fine.
The hazards that develop are not the everyday ones, but the 'I can't believe it' type ones you see every now and again.

Thanks Guyh2, thats the bit i've been wondering about, just spoke to a mate who's son has done his test and he is going to dig out his DVLA CD so i'll give that a go.

GET THE DISC - just did my advanced/blues and twos and used the discs to get me up to speed  :lol: ,in the test on the course i managed 98% and i put it down to using the discs.Not bad as the pass rate was only 85%.

i did an initial test and failed big time. What a load of crap. They clearly want a particular answer even if its not the best one.

ive been riding for 18 years and have only been without a bike for 6 months out of that. I used to do over 15k a year, including through winter.

so i hope im a decent rider, im reasnobally fast and have a 1300 old skool oil burner lol...

good luck anyway, just work out what the pillocks want you to put lol
