fueling problems please help

Hi guy's i have a 1996 300tdi disco commercial, lately i have a proble with fuel when your driving along the engine starts to sputter and loose power.

So i checked the fuel filter and found it half full :shock:  :shock:  so i took the lift pump to check that and it seems to suck!!! so i back flushed the tank and changed the fuel filter and then bleed the system out to make sure all the air was gone. And the changed all the leak off pipes on the injectors as i know these can become prone to letting air in. I have also emptyied the sedimenter out. and all seemed fine untill today when it started the problems again :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  so any advice welcome :?  :?  as im going to set fire to it soon :x  :x  :x

have you checked the pipes in the sender on top of the tank i,ve had air leaks there before when the pipes get old and crack

that could make sense as it only seems to happen when im putting the engine under acceleration so i suppose that could make them move and let more air in :?

A few more bits to think about

Is there a blocked breather around the tank causing a vacuum

A crushed fuel pipe under the vehicle

The fact that the filter is not filling up seems to point to a problem from that point backwards, but for what a new pump costs, it may be worth changing it anyway
