REAR VIEV SCREENS / REVESING CAMERA
« on: November 25, 2007, 20:55:09 »
DUE TO HAVING BLACK (NOT TINTED) GLASS IN THE REAR OF OUR 110, AND DEFENDERS BEING DEFENDERS, IM GONNA GET SOME SORT OF REVERSE CAMERA, BUT A 2 CAMERA SET UP THAT HAS ONE CONSTANTLY SET AS A REAR VIEW MIRROR, AND THEN WHEN REVERSE IS SELECTED USES THE OTHER CAMERA FOR PARKING OR GETTING IN TIGHT SPACES.
MY QUESTION IS, WHO HAS WHAT SYSTEMS IN THE MUDCLUB, AND WHAT SYSTEMS ARE TO BE AVIODED.
ANY INFO WILL BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS

Not as such but i used to fit do for Halfords. To be fair their own brand stuff aint that bad but that was basically all i used. That said most of the maplin's stuff is ok too. Main thing would be to mount the cameras high up to keep em out the mud. Screen wise it may be as easy to get two small ones as have a split feed box. I recon best aft would be to talk to your local indie ice place as it could end up a tad complex to design and build.

You will find many caravan places now doing reversing cameras.  Try TOwsure on line, they are often cheaper than other places and try Maplin's too.

Hell, try Aldi if you're lucky, the things are becoming more popular and IMHO a sensible accesory.

I want a wirelss one on the caravan.

me too. I thought about wireless or run the power through the spare wires in the 12s plug.

the lorries at work all have cameras and by jove they are good. They are mounted up high and can see thevery back of the lorry and also about 8ft behind the lorry. Colour too. No idea where they get them from though but I want one!

here is a system you want £69.99 + £4.85 P&P FRom www.max.tv

heres the product wright up

It's the bane of every motorist's life. Reversing into a tight parking spot is always a tricky manoeuvre, and when your visibility is restricted so you can't see what's behind you, it's easy to move an inch or two too far and give your bumpers a nasty dent. But with MAX TV's Reverse Camera Car Kit, you can park with ease!

Reverse Camera Car Kit consists of a miniature camera which attaches to your rear number plate, and wirelessly transmits a signal to a 2.5" colour LCD dashboard monitor, allowing you to reverse in confidence. With Reverse Camera Car Kit, you know exactly how much room you have, so you need never reverse into a wall, bollard or vehicle again! It's got a wide angle of vision so you can spot even the narrowest of posts, and there are night vision LEDs around the lens, so it's great for night time diving too!

Your Reverse Camera Car Kit's camera is fitted to the rear number plate of your vehicle, with no drilling or complicated fixing required. The monitor is powered through your car's cigarette lighter socket, with the sturdy, weatherproof camera hard-wired to your cars power supply with the cable provided. A little installation is required, but its only two wires - it's really easy to do. The monitor fixes to your dashboard or windscreen using the adjustable arm supplied, so you can set it for comfortable viewing.

Reverse Camera Car Kit is great for new or inexperienced drivers. It fits all sizes and models of car, and is ideal for larger vehicles like vans and trailers too. And at this knock-down, bargain price, it could save you a fortune in minor repairs too!

Features
# Sturdy,weatherproof camera.
# Wireless picture transmission.
# 2.5" LCD Moinitor.
# Easy to install.
# Works day or night.
# Save a fortune in minor repairs.
# Easy to fit.

i have one myself took a couple of hours to fit works when in Reverse and applying the brakes

hope

I used to dash fit for ultramobile (posh campervans similar to the one on top gear with the sports car underneath) and they had the screen in the dash rigged to two cameras hi up at the back for general driving then when you put it in reverse a third camera at bumper level came on screen , this camera had a motorised steel cover that opened when reverse was selected and turned witht the steering so it looked the way you wanted to go ...well cool
