Hi All..

I'm looking to fit discs on the rear of my 1988 military 90..
I can get hold of a pair of axles off a 1989 (V8 ABS) Range Rover fairly cheap - will the hubs/discs/calipers fit??  or will I need to do lots of messing about with special brake hoses etc etc.. (I dont want to swap the whole axles over as the ones on the 90 are spot on)
While Im at it can I use the front calipers and vented disc setup off the range rover on my 90 as well!?

What do I need to swap over to do this and also will the current master cylinder / servo cope?

Ps one of the reasons for doing this is so that I can fit either wolf wheels (longer studs on disc hubs?) or freestyle alloys (havent decided which yet)

If it's mainly for the Wolf wheels then just get a longer set of studs to fit to your existing hubs - this is on my list.  Spacers will also do the trick as the studs are longer by default.

Hi, Wolfs are one of the options and one of the reasons to go for discs, the others being better braking and less hassle with mud/water etc :-)
Looking at the cost of even britpart extended studs I can buy this pair of axles for less ;-)  (they are cheap off a mate)

The hoses aren't the problem but the caliper mounts are, easiest option is just to swop the rear axle over and be done with it (there are a lot of excelent drum rear axles on the market but they are practically worthless). You should find that the flexible hose connection is the same as your existing one.

With regards to the front you will have to check how many circuits the replacement calipers have (could be two compaired to your one).
My 1986 ex-MOD 90 runs rear discs & vented fronts (single line system) ok using the original master cylinder, in fact the braking is spot on with very little peddle travel.
