fuel prices high..... what we gonna do about it

here local prices for me

diesel is 110 per litre

unleaded is 105 per litre

lpg is 50 p thank god for that.

by mine rekon its gone up by 50 p per gallon in 3 months.

Whilst the politics of this have been done to death i'm thinking to build a still and make my own ethanol and use that instead.

 There is a fuel station opposite me that sells biodeisel.  3 months ago it was 80p then went upto 89p 2 months ago but in the last few days it has been increaser to 110p, not much cheaper than deisel anymore as the local shell garage is selling it at 116.9p.

My mate in Hungary has a cracking still, makes this stuff called "Parlinka" from peaches, its amazing, you can drink it, run your car on it and after a few shots it makes the wife 22 again!

The only down side it the week long hangover and your eyesight takes a hammering! :shock:

my solution was to sell the disco and hop on my trail bike .went over 100 miles today on about  a  tenners  worth of fuel .. got very wet though :lol: :lol: :lol:

I've tried that home produced pocheen.  :shock: What happened to the evening!?

Only had a couple of shot glasses full.

It went down ok.

BUT when it hit bottom, it exploded with a fire I have never, ever, ever had before or since!

I keep thinking about getting the bike out, but to be honest, it only does about 45 mpg. But it is 1500cc!

here in somerset, diesel 126, unleaded 117.6 ,me doing 25mpg tops is neva good, but recently its just getting ridiculous! so im getting a tdi and gonna go veg oil!

This country contributes next to nothing to the global warming equation. Get India and China in line then come and shout at home!

The way things are going, it'll soon be cheaper to run cars on Vodka than petrol or diesel.

When I got the Disco I could fill it from almost dry for about £65.

I did it this morning from the same state for ........................... £90!  :doh:

But we're not being ******* (put in whatever you want!) in this country.

Oh, By the way I have had the Disco for about 5 or 6 years thats all!

Having said all this, petrol is still not as expensive as it was in the early 70's. It went to over £5 a gallon then and with inflation included, that was a lot more than we are paying now.

But it's still *way* too much. With excessive duty and huge fuel company profits it *could* be reduced. But, of course, it won't.

Are you sure about over a fiver in the seventies.  I don't remember that - over £ 1 yes, a fiver would have been a quarter of my weekly wage, and I don't think I would have been running my Zephyr on a gallon a week.

if the government wernt to busy lining their pockets and shouting alot of rubbish in the h.o.c and did some proper research they may find that No.1 The U.K. produces 652 times less greenhouse gasses than china and india together. and No.2 A cow produces more methane than 4 4x4s. so why do i pay more and more road tax, and yet they cant even afford to maintain the roads.  And then fuel tax, its not only the fact we already pay a high amount of tax on goods, we now pay more tax on fuel than anywhere else in the world. Oil prices they say? how can the rest of the world afford not to charge so much then?  Think i may loan a Hummer and drive it around Goordan Browns house

I found an article a while ago about this, but I can't locate it now!! Found that it was £4.16 a gallon in 1957 though.
