All the time in the world
« on: November 29, 2007, 21:20:40 »
I am just needing to rant. I have loads of time on my hands now I am not working due to my accident, and as you guys will understand I have loads of little jobs to do on my 90, but I cant get out of the house without help, and then I don't have a driveway so the 90 is parked outside on the road. The misus has started work again so I am stuck in till she gets home, then it is dark! :x  :x  :x  :x and if I do get out into the 90 you can guarantee I need a screwdriver or something, then what     AAARRRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHH I have some sweet gauges to fit and I am wanting to fabricate a centre console for the dash like 2002 onwards Defenders, I think the ones you can buy are way over priced, plus I like to make stuff. Cabin fever is kicking in big time. And I want to screammmmmmmm!!!
Sorry folks .

harsh fella .... first thing you need to make is an access ramp!

..or do you know a sympathetic garage? would be ideal to get dropped off in the morning, store the landy, do what you can, maybe help out in the garage where you can, then get SWMBO to pick you up after work?

really feel your pain... i had bad guts the other week.. couldnt make it to work without a messy seat, couldnt stay in and watch daytime TV (gods punishment to chav job-dodgers) but couldnt nip it long enough to do anything worthwhile to the landy....

then the drak wet nights are here... awful

at least you have MC

It has been said that, given enough time, a million monkeys bashing at a million typewriters would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Saxo forums, we now know this to be wrong

Poor you

I sympathise with your frustration....due to work constraints, I'm starting to feel like a pit pony...i.e, spend all my time working in the dark!...so by the time I get home from paid work it's too darn dark to do anything constructive at home. :(

I know it's of little consolation, but you could always while away your day by plotting and planning your grand refurb in the dash department amongst other things...(...want to do something similar myself so would very much like to see the outcome)...with the World Wide Web at your fingertips, you could conjure up something truly inspired!

.....and I don't think any of us on here would object to any kind of rant to save you from going stir crazy.  :D

Good luck with it all, and I hope you're fit and able to tackle your 90 very soon  :D  :D

That would be nice. I live in a house with 3 floors the bottom floor which is the main living area where I am imprisoned :x  is like the basement if you like, so I have a flight of stairs to climb to get out. which I can do but my wheelchair is then stuck down there,  then if I did manage to get out once I get into the 90, my chair is in the middle of the road. and I cant get to the passenger side as the path is too narrow.   . as for day time tv   the country has so many wasters talking about their lives to that Jeremy Kyle bloke, have these people no shame???   I lots of nice and shiny bits of alloy to mess with, to create the dash of my dreams gauges switches the lot. And what I would do to go for a drive is untrue. I have just had the 200Tdi fitted, plus a custom stainless steel exhaust side exit, sooo sweet. :D  :D  I need a winch to get me up the stairs in my chair!

I feel for you and I all so know some of what you have been going through, ive been off work since sept 06, although I can get out and about this is only when im not fighting infections or im not on too many pills.

A lot of people think its grate to be off work but im the other way around I can’t wait to get better and get back to work and normal life again.

As far as my truck goes I can do some work on her but I then have to sleep for 2days to get over it as I push myself too far just doing little jobs.

It’s a real pain mate and I feel for you. but keep your chin up just think every day that goes past is a day closer to getting better (well at least that’s what the dos's tell me)

Try contacting your local technical collage if they do a motor mechanics course see if they'll do the work for you with you directing it as a project for the students will get you out of the house a couple of days a week and sort the car out  8)

Ging a mate of mine did this about 10 years ago when he bust his spine paragliding he used to race bikes and cars .He ended up with a car he could drive and a qualifacation . Last I heard he'd been done by the rozzers for pulling wheelies on Rhyl prom on a v max trike

I wish I lived nearer or we could have done a maintenance day at yours

Cheers might look into that!!! Your mate should get a medal for wheelin a V max! :D  :D I have raced motox for years and can(could) wheelie anything for ages but a Vmax lord no!!
Pity everyone seems to live too far away! :(  but I would need a mainteance week!!     Thanks a lot though mate!
It's good the way people in the Land rover world do offer their help, me and the misus broke down at Eastnor a couple of years ago in our 110 and the support was fantastic! The misus isn't in the picture as she had stomped off to the beer tent because we missed the dog show, because I was busy faffing with the 110.

[/img]
And this is me last week after finally getting the 90 through the test!! :D  :D  :D

I know how you feel, I had an industrial accident in August 2002 and been off ever since :(

I've had long periods after operations where I couldn't get out, and 6 months where I wasn't allowed to drive! and daytime TV is sooooooooooooo crap!

I've done an ECDL course, and a NEBOSH course and hope to return to work soon.

I've pretty much given up getting my knees sorted, so goint to live as best as I can!
I HAVE THE BODY OF A GOD

Sound similar to me, I have had both my femurs crushed just above the knees, my knee joints bent the wrong way quite a bit before the car crushed me against a wall. It has been nearly 6 months to the day now, and my bones have not even begun to grow at all, hence the surgery in the new year. I don't know what the long term effects are going to be but I don't think I will be able to drive for at least 12 months. and now I know what my Grandad meant when he said the change in weather made his bones ache. :?
