Sorry for my ignorance.

But can someone explain why there is this hate for scorpion racing. I can honestly say I haven't got any of their products on my 90. I am quite new to this upgrading of Land Rovers. I have owned various ones for about 3-4 years now, but now I am starting to use after market parts I see their adverts. but what is it all about?      I have obviously missed something!  :?  :?

Poor service, products copied off real innovators...arrogant manners, not got the gonads to print there prices in the magazines.....

Hugely there for 'money no object, money no brains' kinda people...

On the other end of the scale is Devon 4x4.......the more success they have, the more happy I am...because they deserve it...good old fashioned service, and all have persona too. They rock !!!

Just had a look at their web site, like you say not got the balls to put their prices on there. so I called them for a price on the console to put on early defender dash's with the gauge holes and switches, so it is like 2002 model dashes. when he told me I just laughed, and said its scrap metal that has gone up in value not plastic! £190 odd
I won't be going there at all!!

This explains a lot - I was looking at their detachable towbars for Discos but if they want £190 for a console I dread to think how much those will be! Will have to find someone else making them - anyone know a good supplier? It needs to have a recovery point available when the drop plate is removed.

I got really good service from Scorpion some years ago when they made me up a set of strange springs, maybe all this success in Challenge Events has meant they have employed some womble to look after normal customers?

Try Southdown

This...

Attaches to this...when the tow hitch is removed...

Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

Keep your eye on the welds on your rear radius arms, Spence.
There was a problem with them falling apart a while ago.
iirc one of our members had a close shave when his failed whilst travling at speed
There's been no more talk about it since so i presume they are ok now.

That looks very promising - and they quote prices too!

I notice Guardian offer one as well but I can't see if it has the option of a recovery point to swap with the drop plate? It's somewhat cheaper than the Southdown one hence my interest 8)

I stopped to talk to Scorpion at one of the shows about a suspension package, and their knowledge about the product was woeful!! They are a bunch of money men from London that buy products in, and in one case (Xeng) they started to sell the product then had their own made up and now sell that instead!!! That I don't like

On the other hand you have someone like Guardian and others that develop, use, design and build their own products, they are the ones that get my business, pure and simple!

i have had a good chat about this with the owner of another well known company and he seems to think that the only thing that they have put thought into and have actually made on there own is a carrier for the fold up ground anchor thing they sell!

few examples of copied stuff(9/10 its a bad copy  )

extreme kit: equipe4x4/lrs challenge suspension(exactly the same)
Disc hand break: x-eng x-break
All boxes from mobile storage systems
cvs look suspiciously like ashcrofts...but i don’t know about that.
there are many more but i dont have enough time.

i was at landrover fest ,talking to one of them about buying all the parts i needed for my truck off them and the bloke just walked off! then i find my girlfriend had been waiting for 10minuites to get a t-shirt and a hat off them! they know nothing about there own products there always late wit hdeliveries and there just rude!      ](*,)

i hate them with a passion!

i think the only way that they have lasted this long is by ramming advertising down your throat! the only good thing about them that i can say is that they made me hate them so much that i found Devon 4x4 who in my opinion [throw it] all over scorpion racing!

also!!!!!!
did you read that thing in LRO about zoltan whas-his-face and his 07 defender prepared by scorpion??? i forget the exact figure(probibly blacked out!) but it was between 40-50k!!!!!.....they hadnt even done that much to it!

I did have some Scrapiron on my Disco
Winch bumper, rock sliders and suspension.
I've personally witnessed the destruction of one of the winch bumpers.
It didn't take much let me tell you
The rock sliders are a direct copy of Mantec's
And as for the soggy springs (i always worried about scratching my wing mirrors on tight corners because of the leaning)
Let me put it this way...
I took them off and fitted Britpart standard springs and shocks and was amazed how much better it rode.
Yes its now not lifted but i have since compared other lifting springs and realised that the orange ones are a bit...well, i was like driving a rowing boat.
The only reason i shopped there was it was the nearest 4x4 parts dealer to my old address.
Poor excuse, i know

I think by now the general opinion is not falling in favour of the orange ones :?

Not that I buy amystuff there myself, but the concensus seesm to be they're in it for the money too much, they copy (dare I say plagerise) other people's good ideas, theri serice has been called into question, then there was that unfortunate thing about someone's wheels actually falling off, well axle really but not funny

Truth is I buy elsewhere because I like the people I deal with, I pay a fair price for good products and get good service.

You pay you money and take your choice, fortunately there's lots of choice

If any of you saw the "Race to Dakar" dvd, the way Colin Aldred, spoke to Ross Malkin, when getting the BMW X5 prepared for departure, was very arrogant.
And..., if memory serves me right Team Dakar had a few teething troubles, and a serious breakage out in the bundooks.
I don't have any of their stuff, but I don't think I'll bother after viewing that!
