Best to fit a relay as the amount of current drawn would be quite high. You could possibly pinch the switches, relay etc out of the donor car. Don't forget to fuse the supply as well.

Take a look at the wiring from the donor car, book of lies in your local halfords should give you all you need to know :)
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Ive fitted some in my 90 out of a volvo.  I removed any volo relays and what not so i was left with just the heater element.

I then bought 2 heated rear screen timers and wired them in with a momentary switch, when you switch them on they come on for 10 mins then go off.

Ive got another fuse/relay box behind the passenger seat so i wired them up from there.

Thanks for the tips.

The window timer sounds very sensible.  I suppose it depends how much gubbins is in the seat and how much is/was in the dash.  Im unlikely to see the doner car as they have been in some blokes shed for a while. However I only paid £30 for 2 front leather seats (and the rears, so workshop sofa project!) in good (I beleive) nick, so as long as they are ok its no big deal, better than the duck tape currently masquerading as a seat cushion!

Thanks.
