a friend has a 200tdi defender with the lt177 gearbox
and see is convinced the gear box is on the way out!,apart from the transfer box ratio is there any difference between the defender and discoverey gear boxes ie will a disco one bolt straight in to a defender?
also would it be practical to convert to a r380 gearbox
btw shes not looking for any performance upgrades its just what gear boxes are available at the right price
cheers kevin

no
defender box's are long stick
discos are shortstick
look inside a disco, you'll see what i mean
i do have a disco box in my 90, but it involves cannibulising the seatbox, and also moving the engine forward
