V8 running BRILLIANT
« on: December 08, 2007, 00:07:49 »
well i was so tits offs with my V8 not running right, i was tempted to change it for a diesel

im so glad i held my ground i stuck with the good all V8 that sound sweet!!!!

well im the sort of person who thinks a complete engine rebuild is a regular service, just because i find stripping, and putting back together a V8 is childs play.... so when i was trying to find out the problem to my popping and super bad fuel usage (5MPG   ) i thought id strip it down to see if anything mechanical was to blame.....

well just as i suspected...... [!Expletive Deleted!] all!!!!! well i did rebuild her in the first place so i knew it was going to be fine.... only problem i did find was it was coked up worse than a coal mine, well wot do you exspect from a bad running V8...

found out the problem was down to a crap dizzy cap and rotor arm, plus sumthing im not going to bore you with (alot wont understand)

well anyway after finding no problems i thought id rebuild the engine, but as im such a petrol head id thought id stick afew more power upgrades in her aswell  (i just cant stop buying it more stuff)

after running it for the first time i must say its like a completely diffent engine.... i cant belive how much torque it producies low down... it never pulled aswell as it does now, and i never complained about it before!!!!!

after a couple of days i thought id do a crompression test........ it used to be 10.5 BAR and after some of the mods i did, its now gone up to an amazing 15 BAR (220.5PSI)    :D  WOW just what i was hoping for, more compression...

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=h7-bxfn1ld4

how many of yours can get to 220.5 PSI, and its not running crap, its running great!!!!!

well thats my little banter over!!!!
I LOVE MUD!!!!!! but my engine doesnt

EEK, 220psi, that's a little high for a V8 mate, unless you are runing LPG all the time.

As a comparison my TVR engined LSE only has 205PSI.

Ah, there's the giveaway.  In truth then it is a little high on compression but if it's running fine on high aoctane then great.  Do you get better fuel economy to make it worth the extra fuel?

I'm asking becuase I know a couple of people who swear blind that optimax pays for itself in better MPG.

My mate also runs his Chimera 430HC on optimax, that's about the same compression as you're getting and it loves any sort of octane enhancement.

As an aside LPG is about 115 RON, so your's woould run sweet on a gas conversion :)

BTW, try this stuff, Rich uses it in the TVR   http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lucas-Octane-Booster_W0QQitemZ230065206070QQihZ013QQcategoryZ10490QQcmdZViewItem
